The leader/ Chairman of one of the youngest political party in the country, Alliance Democratic Party (ADP), Mohamed Kamaraimba Mansaray, has in a press release asked the National Electoral Commission (NEC) to nullify Honourable Ibrahim Ben Kargbo of the APC’s result.

According to the release dated 12 January 2016, Mr. Mansaray informed the general public that he is resolute to petition the eligibility of Hon. Ibrahim Ben Kargbo’s candidature.

The release further stated that IB Kargbo was an, “ineligible Member of Parliament for Constituency 030 in the Bombali District and that he also doubles as the substantive Special Adviser to President Koroma.

“I am petitioning not only IB Kargbo but the following people and institutions: the National Electoral Commission (NEC), the National Returning Officer of the National Electoral Commission, and the Bombali District Returning Officer,'' the release asserted.

“As a person, I want the public, sympathizers, well wishers and patriots, to know the foundation upon which I am petitioning IB Kargbo.”

According to the ADP Leader, Hon. IB Kargbo was disqualified from being a Member of Parliament because he was employed as a Special Adviser to President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma.

It further maintained that Hon. IB Kargbo was working as a public official being paid a monthly salary from the Consolidated Fund and that should he be eligible to contest any election, he must have resigned his post and desist from further receiving salary as at December 2014.

According to the release, IB Kargbo was disqualified from being an MP under the provisions of sub-section (20) (a) of section 63 of the Public Elections Act of 2012 and sub-section 1(b) of section 76 of the constitution of Sierra Leone (Act No 6 of 1991).
