The United States Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Maria E. Brewer, has on Monday 15th October 2018 paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Dr. Abass Chernor Bundu, for the first time since he was elected Speaker on the 25th April 2018.

Welcoming the US Ambassador and her delegation, the Speaker posited that he and his staff are ready to provide explanations on a number of issues that had taken place since the inauguration of the Fifth Parliament of the Second Republic of Sierra Leone in April this year. He also averred that he would engage with staff on matters between the US Embassy and the Parliament of Sierra Leone, in respect of continuing those programmes and the need for creating new ones, whilst speaking on the need for maintaining and strengthening mutual relations between the US Embassy and the Parliament of Sierra Leone.

US Ambassador to Sierra Leone, in her brief response congratulated the Speaker on his election, noting the arduous tasks of his office. She said she had been observing parliamentary proceedings from the gallery, and was happy to be engaging the Speaker for the first time to learn about how he has been managing and strengthening a rainbow parliament, and the need to continue and foster good relations for the mutual benefits of Sierra Leone and the United States.
